Is The Hechinger Report a nonprofit?
Yes. The Hechinger Report is an independent unit of Teachers College, Columbia University. You will receive a receipt for your donation with proof of our tax-exempt status. Our EIN number is: 13-1624202.
What kind of back-to-school gifts will I get?
Everyone who gives at or above the Think Critically level — either as a one-time donor or as a monthly sustainer — will receive a gift in the mail the September following their donation. The gift could be a mug, a water bottle, a tote bag, or something else. We’ll surprise you.
I prefer not to receive a physical gift; I want my entire donation to support The Hechinger Report.
No problem. Don’t give us your address on the check-out page and we won’t mail you anything. You’ll still receive all the other benefits at your giving level.
Why do you care if I’m a teacher?
At The Hechinger Report, it’s our job to tell the stories of real people involved in the day-to-day work of educating young people. We also strive to write stories teachers find worthwhile to read. If you’re a teacher, check the “I’m a teacher” box on the donation page to receive some special communications from The Hechinger Report and a small gift for your classroom.
